This bill, the Climate Solutions Act of 2020 - Greenhouse Gas Emissions Reduction Act, increases the greenhouse gas emissions reductions that the State of Maryland must achieve by 2030 from 40% to 60% from 2006 levels. It also requires the State to achieve net-zero statewide greenhouse gas emissions by 2045. The Department of the Environment must adopt a final plan by December 31, 2020 that reduces statewide greenhouse gas emissions by 60% by 2030 and sets the State on a path toward achieving net-zero statewide greenhouse gas emissions by 2045. The bill also establishes the Climate Jobs Workgroup to advise on workforce development and training related to energy efficiency, renewable energy, and other clean energy technologies, with a focus on underrepresented groups.
