This bill aims to address offenses involving economic disruption. It creates a new section in the state's criminal code that allows prosecutors to file a special allegation when there is sufficient evidence that an accused person or accomplice committed an offense to cause an economic disruption. If the court finds this to be true, the bill imposes mandatory sentences of up to 12 months in total confinement, to be served consecutively to any other sentence. The bill also allows for increased restitution of up to triple the amount of the offender's gain or the victim's loss for crimes committed to cause an economic disruption. The bill is known as the "Preventing Economic Disruption Act."
