This bill requires healthcare facilities that perform mammography to include information in the summary of the mammography report provided to the patient that identifies the patient's individual breast tissue classification based on the Breast Imaging Reporting and Data System established by the American College of Radiology. If the patient has heterogeneously dense or extremely dense breast tissue, the summary must also include a notice informing the patient about the impact of dense breast tissue on cancer detection and encouraging the patient to discuss this issue and other breast cancer risk factors with their healthcare provider. The bill allows facilities to update the language in the notice to reflect advances in science and technology, and specifies that this section does not create any additional duty of care or legal obligation beyond the duty to provide the required notice.
