AI Summary

This bill, the Recognizing America's Children Act, authorizes the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to cancel the removal of and grant conditional permanent resident status for an initial 5-year period to certain aliens who were brought to the United States as children and have been continuously present since 2012. The bill outlines the requirements for this status, including having a high school diploma or work authorization, passing background checks, and registering for military service if required. The bill also provides a pathway for these conditional permanent residents to adjust to lawful permanent resident status after meeting additional criteria, such as maintaining good moral character and completing educational or military service requirements. The bill aims to provide a way for certain long-term undocumented residents who came to the U.S. as children to obtain legal status.
